X-TELIA Announces Roaming Partnership with the Helium Network to Expand IoT Coverage
SAN FRANCISCO, California (January 25, 2022) - X-TELIA, a Canadian IoT leader specializing in LoRaWAN wireless solutions, and Helium, the world's fastest-growing decentralized wireless network, announce a roaming partnership expanding the reach of X-TELIA's IoT network in Canada, the United States, and around the world. This network integration is made possible by the Helium blockchain, which allows LoRaWAN-compatible devices already supported by X-TELIA to now seamlessly use the coverage provided by the Helium network.
The number of connected objects (IoT) worldwide is expected to nearly triple to over 25.4 billion devices by 2030. As more and more devices are deployed, the need for an IoT network with ubiquitous and uninterrupted coverage on a global scale becomes important. This is why the partnership between X-TELIA and the Helium wireless network makes perfect sense. In just over two years since the network launched, more than 513,000 Helium-compatible access points have been deployed in 38,000 cities internationally, providing decentralized LoRaWAN coverage to billions of IoT devices. Through this partnership with X-TELIA, the network is expanding its use and accelerating its presence in Canada, while providing X-TELIA customers with direct access to a global IoT network.

"At X-TELIA, we know that IoT technology enables our customers to achieve new levels of control and efficiency, and we have made it our mission to make it accessible to industries, businesses and cities across Canada," said Eric Bourbeau, co-founder and CEO of X-TELIA. "By leveraging the reach of the Helium network, we are now able to offer our customers a global network, enabling them to track fleets and assets on an international scale."
X-TELIA strives to eliminate the complexity of IoT by offering end-to-end IoT solutions for a range of clients from smart cities, to agriculture, smart buildings, logistics to industry 4.0. X-TELIA's IoT HUB platform and carrier-grade network enable its customers to easily manage and process their data in real-time and make better decisions through custom applications and smart dashboards. X-TELIA's solutions have been used to track climate change, snow removal operations, prevent flooding, read water meters, measure waste levels, measure temperature at the bottom of the ocean, and even prevent heat stroke in dairy cows. As the only Quebec member of the LoRa Alliance, this roaming partnership demonstrates X-TELIA's commitment to providing its customers with access to its carrier-grade solutions and infrastructure, as well as international coverage, through a partnership strategy with extensive decentralized networks such as Helium's.
"Democratizing access to the Internet has been Helium's primary mission since its inception," said Amir Haleem, co-founder and CEO of Helium. "As we continue to develop the world's largest decentralized wireless network, we are proud to partner with companies like X-TELIA whose commitment to expanding access to IoT connectivity resonates with our mission. We are excited to welcome X-TELIA and its customers to roam on the Helium network."
