In today’s test drive with a vehicle equipped with X-TELIA’s new LoRa X-3 GPS tracker, 18 LoRa gateways from the X-TELIA network received a message containing vehicle position, direction and travel speed.
The range of the LoRa network varies from a few kilometers to more than 100 km in extreme cases. Since each antenna is independent of the others, the more antennas that pick up a message, the more robust and redundant the network is, since in a case such as this, a single antenna would have been sufficient to transmit the data to the server.
X-TELIA continues its network deployment in Quebec, using Canadian-built carrier-grade gateways by partner Tektelic, as several cities adopt the network to support their smart city initiatives.
